The FZ-09 felt a bit wide mainly b/c of the tank and the wider sweep of the handlebars. I think the FZ-07 is slightly lower so I was able to get more of my feet on the ground on both sides. Since you have riding experience you can probably be okay on either bike, but the FZ07 might be more comfortable.
